I just have to put this out there, so today you get 2 posts.
My husband is the best Daddy in the world! I thought MY Daddy was, but Mark just took the title! Let me explain. There is a “Winter Gala” at Maddi’s daycare tomorrow. The daycare has kids from newborn to like school age that come when school gets out. So I figured the little ones were only invited so as not to feel left out, not because they would be singing any little songs or performing or anything like the big kids. Well, Mark and said he was going to go all along, but I just figured he meant check it out when he picked her up at his normal time. Then I asked the teacher and she said yes, the little ones would be performing, kinda. They have 2 songs to sing, but it is usually just her signing to the kids for the parents, lol. 1 year olds don’t really follow the plans adults lay out very well. Lol. So, I am thinking why am I going to use my vacation time to go watch Miss Jen sing to the kidos? I would rather save it and use it to hang out with Maddi and Mark. I had only thought this however. So Mark asks me today if I am going to leave early to go. Here is how the convo went:
Mark: So what time are you leaving tomorrow for the Winter Gala?
Mel: Miss Jen said they have 2 songs, but it is usually just her singing to the kids in front of the parents.
Mark: Well I am going. It’s important to me to be there for every one of her events. I don’t care if all she does is stand there. It’s her 1st little thing and I am making going to all her things a priority in my life.
Mel: OMG, I love you! You are the best Daddy in the whole world!
Isn’t he amazing! She is 16 months old. She won’t remember and probably won’t do anything. I predict we will hold her while her teacher sings to us. But he will be there, loving her, always and for everything. AMAZING!!!!!!!!
Oh, and I am going now was well!

Hump Day
I didn’t run or walk last night, but it was a good night. I ate pizza, frozen cheap pizza, my fave, and played with Maddi and Mark and relaxed. It was so nice. I got stuff done and got some family time and good food. Not much on the ‘Fit and Fab’ front, but great all the same.
See, we are battling several things in my house at the moment besides the ‘Fit and Fab’ mission. The little princess won’t sleep. Every night is a battle to get her to sleep. Once she is out she sleeps for 10 hours without a problem, always has, she started sleeping through the night at only 6 weeks old. She is a great sleeper, but impossible to actually get to sleep. Also, I am on a mission to get my house under control. To get all the crap and clutter in its home. And then to keep it there. And at the same time I want to do my “chores” every week. I want to keep a clean house, and if everything has a place then it will be easy to keep clean.
Well, tonight I will get my run on. I am researching today so I am prepared. I am looking up what stretches I should do before and after I run. And other things I come across or have always wondered. Like if you should eat before or after you run? And how to breath, is it in through your nose out through your mouth like I have always heard? And what is the proper running form? Yes, I obsess a bit with new things, but I have the time to read up on it, so why not? Starting today I am also writing down everything I eat. I will do it at least Mon-Fri.

Sports Bra for your Butt
So, anyone who knows me knows I have a huge booty! Like, it’s noticeable. Always has been. When I was 18 and weighed 100lbs it was huge then too! My mom is the same, and my brother is too, though in a more Boy kinda way, not a bang’n curvy girl kinda way. Well, I am not a bang’n curvy girl, one half of that description is lacking, the upper half. No boobs and a big ol booty. All the love went to one of the curved areas. Anyway, I have been this way my whole life, I am used to it. I love my booty. It’s my thing. The thing is, as I grew, so did the booty, and everything else. I am now the biggest I have ever been in my life, well, actually the biggest was 5lbs heavier, but I lost that so far in the Pre-“Fit and Fab weeks.” And I don’t count when I was pregnant. That was ummm, a lot bigger.
Back to the point. I am bottom-heavy to say the least. It is already established I am overweight which would imply I have extra weight and flab and chub all over I am trying to get rid of. And we all know what happens to all that extra “stuff” when we try to run, it bounces around. Well, let me tell you, when I went for my 1st walk of this “F and F” (Fit and Fab) journey it became very clear just how much extra “stuff” was in my trunk! My booty tried to bounce away from me! Literally, I ran like 6 steps and was like, whoa, I can’t do this, my booty is going one way and I am going the other. So I slowed back down to walk, looked around to make sure nobody awe the huge embarrassment that had just taken place, and got to thinking. I need a sports bra for my butt! Forget needing to hold big ol boobies down while I run, I need to hold my big ol booty down! Is there such a thing? I will have to Google it. And Google I did, to find nothing. Apparently there is a lot of talk about if you should or should not wear chonies (that’s panties for anyone who doesn’t use the word chonies) under your shorts when you run, but nothing about what kind of chonies to wear to hold your booty in place. So I just went and bought extra small spandex shorts, so they are super duper tight, and then some exercise leggings, also tight, but a size that actually fits, not one that is 3 sizes too small. The goal was to be super tight and hold everything in. IT WORKED!!!!! I ran from one street light to the next and the bounce was not bad, it was managed enough I would have kept going, but I had to go back and get the husband and baby, I had left them in my spandex covered booty dust. So, that is how you build a sports bra for your booty. Buy the smallest shorts you can squeeze into and wear them under your pants. Problem solved. So now on night 3 I will attempt to run rather than just walk.

Changes
The chicken on Sunday was a Success! None of us like coleslaw, so we just did the chicken and rice and I made a strawberry cake with vanilla frosting. Both the chicken and the cake were a hit, the chicken more, since the cake was just out of a box, but a yummy topper for a great dinner and a fun night. My little bro even made an appearance, which is very rare. It was so nice to see him and Maddi got a kick out of him too.
I am also super happy to announce I have a new friend! Yes, straight out of 1st grade announcement, “Mommy I have a friend.” So, here is the short of it: In March of 2010 I met a girl at a wedding of a mutual friend. She was pregnant, I had a 6 month old baby, she was nice, neither of us really knew anyone but our husbands there, we sat at the same table for dinner and had a great time hanging out. I friended her on Facebook so I could see pictures of her baby once he came. I love pregnant people and babies, what can I say. We have been Facebook friends for almost a year now, and she has a super cute baby boy. She is one of those effortlessly pretty girls. Like tiny and hot and hair and makeup and super nice too! She is a popular cheerleader and I am the looser who wanted to be a cheerleader but never was. And funny thing, she really was a cheerleader in college! Anywho, I asked and she said yes and now we are going to be fitness buddies. Or she will be mine I guess. She just started a blog about fitness and I am trying to get fit, great timing, so I asked if she would be my long distance fitness coach. She lives in another state now with her Army hubby. And she said yes! So, now I have the motivation to stop being fat and gross AND a person to help guide me and hold me accountable. I am so excited to see where this journey leads, to see the hot new body I will have one day.
My “Get Fit and Fab,” journey started on Monday Jan. 10th 2011. I walked 3 miles. Then last night, 1-11-11 I walked 2 miles. Tonight I plan to get some running action in. I want to run 1 mile without stopping, but I am not sure how that will go. The last time I ran a mile was in high school I think in P.E. and I hated every single step around the track with the stupid teacher cheering us on. It was a test, we had to do a timed mile in the beginning of the class and then at the end. So, I have no idea who my mile run will go, but if I can’t do a whole mile I figure I will do like half of one, and walk another 2.5 and then next week work on running the whole 1st mile, and so forth.

Cooking New Things
I am very "Plain Jane," as I like to say when it comes to food. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE FOOD. I just really like what I like and tend to stick with it. I eat the same thing every time I go to a restaurant. I cook the same things over and over. So I am going to make 2 brand new things each month this year. I am first dipping into my "Rachel Ray's Book of 10" cookbook. I have chosen Teriyaki Chicken and Zucchini & Bow Ties as my recipes for January. I am going to make the chicken this Sunday for the Fam, so I hope it goes well.
January To Do List
I have decided to make a list of things to do each month, rather than 1 New Years resolution. This way I only have to be accountable for something for 1 month at a time. It seems much more attainable than 1 thing for a whole year. So, each month I will put my list up for all to see (thought right now I think "all" is inclusive of just my hubby since he is my only follower, lol) and hopefully be more accountable for completing it since other people will know.
January's To Do List
1. Organize all the files on the computer
2. Organize all the pictures and videos on computer
3. Get pictures of Maddi from Joanne
4. Order Maddi's 1 year shutterfly book
5. Update Maddi's baby book
6. Organize all physical photos and albums
7. Track all spending for the month
8. Walk at least 2 miles 3 days a week
9. Return our treadmill
10. Do all things on my "weekly chore list" at lease once
11. Make 2 new meals for the fam

All in a Name
I have decided on a name. Nothing too fancy, but I think it will do. I was trying to think of something whitty and cute and funny and that ties into the main focus of this blog. That is an issue of course because this blog has no main focus. I would be the focus I guess. So, "singmethemoon" it is. That is a nice little saying I came up with when I was 18. There was a line in a song that said "sing me anything," and I liked that, but I loved the moon and the stars and thought of an old, and by old I am refering to early 90's, country song about roping the moon, and out came the totally Melani hybrid of "singmethemoon." So that is the name...now what?
